Concrete bathrooms – photos and ideas
The concrete and cement look is minimalist and timeless – it suits modern homes and loft apartments. Grey tones should be balanced with wood and warm light to prevent the bathroom from feeling cold. Below you will find how to achieve this, along with photos of collections in a concrete look.
How to create a bathroom with concrete
A concrete bathroom relies on simplicity: large calm surfaces, a matte finish, and few details. It is most commonly made from porcelain tiles and cladding in a concrete look, which are laid just like regular tiles and do not require impregnation. Coatings like microcement are a separate technology that requires an experienced company and regular maintenance.
- Shade: light grey concrete will visually enlarge a smaller bathroom, greige (grey-beige) feels warmer, anthracite is suitable for the floor or one wall.
- Format: 60 × 120 cm, 120 × 120 cm or large slabs – the fewer joints, the more it resembles cast concrete.
- Surface: matte, for shower floors with higher slip resistance. Matte concrete is practical, as water and soap are less visible on it.
- Combinations: wood on the floor or furniture, white sanitary ware, black fittings and profiles, warm LED light around 3,000 K.
The most common mistake is having a bathroom entirely in a cool grey tone. Just one warm element – a wooden cabinet, wood-look tiles, or textiles – will bring the concrete to life. Using the same cladding on the floor and walls unifies the space, while contrast can be created with darker concrete on the floor. We discuss the concrete look in detail in the article Concrete look in the bathroom, and the article Tile and floor formats will help with format selection.

It can be if it's all in a cool grey tone. Balance it with wood on the floor or furniture, textiles, and warm light around 3,000 K.
Is concrete flooring or microcement better?
Porcelain tiles in a concrete look are laid like regular tiles and do not need to be impregnated. Microcement is a seamless coating that requires an experienced company and regular maintenance.
What shade of concrete should be chosen for the bathroom?
For a smaller bathroom, light grey or greige, which will visually enlarge the space. Use anthracite concrete for the floor or one wall.
Does the concrete look fit in the shower?
Yes. For shower walls, a matte tile can be used, and for the shower floor without a tray, choose tiles with higher slip resistance.
