Marble bathrooms – photos and ideas
Marble adds elegance and light to the bathroom. White marbles with pronounced veining look luxurious, while dark ones appear dramatic. It looks most natural in large format with minimal joints – below you will find how to use it, along with photos of collections in marble appearance.
How to create a marble bathroom
- White marble: types Calacatta with pronounced, wider veining and Carrara with fine grey patterns. It also brightens up a smaller bathroom.
- Dark marble: black or green with contrasting veining. It is more suitable for one wall, in a niche, or on a sink countertop.
- Gloss or matte: glossy marble on walls reflects light and looks luxurious, while for the floor, choose a matte or subtly textured surface.
- Format: 60 × 120 cm, 120 × 120 cm and large slabs. With slabs, the pattern can be matched (book-match) as with real stone.
To avoid overcrowding the bathroom, let marble be the main star. Simple furniture in white, grey, or wood pairs well with white marble, along with chrome, black, or gold accessories. Marble on all walls and the floor looks impressive, but in a smaller bathroom, one marble wall and a calm floor are sufficient. We compare types of marble in detail in the article Marble bathroom: Calacatta, Carrara, Statuario, and large slabs in the article Ceramic slabs 160 × 320 cm.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is marble practical in the bathroom?
Gres in marble appearance is yes – it is non-absorbent and resistant to acids and stains. Natural marble needs to be impregnated and cleaned only with non-acidic agents.
What is the difference between Calacatta and Carrara marble?
Calacatta has a white background with a pronounced, wider vein, while Carrara has a grey-white background with a fine grey pattern. Calacatta appears more dramatic, while Carrara is calmer.
Glossy or matte marble for the bathroom?
Glossy for the walls reflects light and looks luxurious. For the floor, choose matte or subtly textured, which is safer and less visible for water.
Does marble suit a small bathroom?
Yes, especially white marble in large format with minimal joints. It visually enlarges the space if placed on both the floor and walls or at least on one wall.
