Bathrooms with travertine – photos and ideas
Travertine is a warm beige stone with typical pores and horizontal patterns that gives the bathroom a calm, Mediterranean atmosphere. In gres, it does not need sealing and is suitable for walls and floors. Below you will find how to combine it, and under the text, photos of collections in travertine appearance.
Why travertine in the bathroom
- Colour: from light ivory through beige to nutty brown. Light shades are suitable for smaller bathrooms, darker for the floor or one wall.
- Format: 60 × 120 cm and larger, ideally with horizontal patterns on the walls. Travertine looks most natural in large formats.
- Surface: matte or finely structured. For the shower floor, choose higher slip resistance – we have detailed this in the article Tile parameters.
- Combinations: oak wood, linen textiles, bronze, gold, or matte black fittings, and warm light.
Travertine pairs well with light walls and wooden floor tiles. If you want contrast, try darker travertine on the floor and light on the walls, or one wall in stone or concrete. We discuss travertine in detail in the article Travertine in the bathroom, and you can find a comparison with marble, wood, and concrete in the article Imitations of travertine, marble, wood, and concrete.
