Bathrooms with wood imitation – photos and ideas
Wood-effect tiles bring warmth to your bathroom without the hassle of real wood. They can also be used in the shower and with underfloor heating. Below you will find recommendations on formats and laying styles, along with photos of collections in a wooden look.
Wood in the bathroom without worries
Real wood and water are not the best of friends. That's why we use wood-effect porcelain tiles in the bathroom: they look like parquet, but are non-absorbent, can be laid in the shower, and withstand underfloor heating. Leave real wood for furniture outside the shower.
- Format: long planks 20 × 120 cm or 30 × 120 cm resemble parquet, while wider and longer formats resemble laminate flooring.
- Laying: straight with offset, or herringbone, which adds a classic character to the bathroom. For long planks, the offset is limited to keep the tiles straight.
- Shade: light oak for smaller bathrooms and Nordic styles, walnut and darker tones for larger bathrooms.
- Combinations: light stone, travertine or concrete on the walls, white sanitary ware, and black or gold accessories.
Wooden tiles are also suitable where you want to connect the bathroom with other rooms – the same wooden look can continue into the hallway or bedroom. In a shower without a tray, choose tiles with higher slip resistance, which we have detailed in the article Tile parameters. Formats, laying styles, and consumption are described in detail in the article Wood-effect tiles, and wood in the attic in the article Attic bathroom.
